International Conference on Qur’anic Studies (ICQS) is a biennial academic conference organized by the Department of Qur’an and Related Sciences, Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala, India. Launched in 2015, ICQS aims at bringing out fresh researches on relevant areas related with studying the Qur’an. Following the successful conferences on the themes of ‘Qur’anic interpretations in Indian Subcontinent’ (2015), ‘Translations of the Qur’an: Translatability, Diversity and Society’ (2017) and ‘Qur’anic Perspectives on Social and Contemporary issues’ (2018), the organizersinvite abstracts for the Fourth edition of ICQS on the theme “Diversity and Pluralism: A Qur’anic Perspective.” The fourth ICQS is organized by the Department of Qur’an and Related Sciences, Darul Huda Islamic University in collaboration with KA Nizami Centre for Qur’anic Studies, Aligarh Muslim Universityand Chair for Islamic Studies and Researches, University of Calicut.
For this, we host experts, academicians and research scholars to convey their perspectives on the sub-themes of the conference.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Qur’anic Studies has been emerging as a vibrant field of research among the contemporary scholars both in the West and the East. This is apparent in the recent trends of scholarly contributions in different forms such as books, research papers, conferences, workshops, seminars, debates and the likes. Adding to such endeavors, this conference aims to explore the Qur’anic approach in dealing with the concepts of Diversity and Pluralism. Accordingly, this conference aims to set a wider platform for versatile scholars, academicians, experts and research scholars to exchange their knowledge related to the topic.
AREAS FOR SUBMISSION
Areas for submission include, but are not restricted to:

· Legitimization of Diversity and Pluralism in the Qur’an.
· Pluralistic Interpretation in the collections of Tafsīr.
Qur’an as a Constitution of Minority Movement
· Qur’anic Perspective in Minority.
· The Concept of al-Wasaṭiyyah Issues (2:143).
· Legitimacy of State Sovereignty in the Qur’an.
· The Qur’an and Freedom of Expression.
· Sharʿī and the Qur’anic Viewpoint on Democracy.
· Qur’anic Guidance on Medina Charter.
· Concept of al-Ummah and the Qur’an.
Multi-culturalism and the Qur’an
· Assimilation of Cultures into the Qur’anic Paradigm.
· Samha Concept Compared with Tolerance.
· The Quran’s Engagement with Modernity
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
The abstract (not exceeding 300 words) should clearly mention the research problem, objectives, methodology, expected results and key words. Mail the abstract along with a short biography of the author to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Full paper should consist of 3,500 – 6,000 words, inclusive of footnotes. Submission must be word processed, compatible with Microsoft Office Word, and should be sent to: email@example.com
The Manuscript should be arranged in the following order: Title,Author and Affiliation, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Analysis/ Discussion, Conclusion, and References. The footnotes and references must be set in Chicago format. No hard copies are accepted.
English and Arabic only.
Power Point Presentation is mandatory. Authors will be given 15 minutes for presentation of the paper followed by 15minutes interactive session.
The peer reviewed papers will be published in the Islamic Insight Journal (ISSN 2581-3269), published by Darul Huda Islamic University.
There is no fee for conference registrationfor the accepted paper presenters. Their accommodation and meals will be covered by the organizers during the conference dates. All the delegates are expected to cover their own travel costs.
For international paper presenters, the organizers will provide the necessary assistance by issuing documents/ official letters for applying for the Conference visa to India.The organizers will bear the expenses of local transportation and cultural visits.
DATE AND VENUE
The conference will be held on January28-29, 2020 at the Green Land Convention Centerin the vicinity ofDHIU campus in Chemmad, Kerala, India. The two day conference starts with an inaugural session on28January, followed by sevenacademic sessions and a grand valedictory session.
